The Master Guide to AI Poster Prompts
A clear prompt gives the generator better constraints, but the final result also depends on source material, model behavior, layout choices, and human review. Move beyond a simple style label by specifying the message and publishing context.
A Reusable Prompt Formula
- Subject: What is the main focus?
- Style: Use keywords like "Minimalist" or "Cyberpunk".
- Composition: Mention "rule of thirds" or "centered layout".
- Lighting: "Volumetric fog" or "golden hour" adds depth.
Negative Prompts
State the problems to avoid in plain language, such as cluttered background, low text contrast, extra logos, unreadable small copy, or distorted hands. Negative instructions help, but they do not replace checking the final result.
Add the information hierarchy
- Primary: the one headline a viewer should understand first.
- Secondary: the date, product benefit, speaker, discount, or supporting line.
- Action: one CTA such as Register Now, Shop Now, or Learn More.
- Footer: only essential brand, venue, or contact information.
Reusable prompt example
Modern product launch poster for a compact desk lamp, audience of home-office professionals, headline "Better Light for Focus", warm neutral palette, product hero centered, generous whitespace, one Shop Now CTA, readable sans typography, no fake reviews, no extra logos.
Review before publishing
Check every word, price, date, URL, and logo. Confirm the headline is readable on a phone and that the design still works after the intended crop. Regenerate or edit any unsupported claim instead of treating generated text as final copy.
